Prerequisites For Using Connect411 for DDMS

You must have access to your live DDMS contracts file from the computer running Connect411 for DDMS! This access can be through a network share or mapped drive.

You must use Windows XP or later to run Connect411 for DDMS. Connect411 for DDMS has not been tested with Windows 2000.

You must have access to the Internet and Port 80 (Standard Web Browser Port) must be open on the computer running Connect411 for DDMS.

Install the FoxPro ODBC driver on your computer, even if you think you don't need to. Connect411 for DDMS will not be able to connect to your DDMS Contracts file without this driver installed and at the correct version level.

Administrator Privileges Required

You must be logged in as an Administrator on the computer you are installing Connect411 for DDMS.

All Power Options Must be Disabled

All power down, power off, power saving, or any other process that turns of, puts to sleep, or disables your computer must be turned off on the computer where you are installing Connect411. If your computer powers off, turns off the hard drive, goes to sleep, or turns off necessary attached devices, then Connect411 will fail!

Do Not Install on a Laptop

Do not install Connect411 on a laptop computer. Laptops are not suited for this application.

High Speed Network Connection to DDMS Required

Do not install connect 411 on a computer that is connected to your DDMS via a wireless network. A gigabyte network connection is recommended, dual gigabyte connections is preferred. Ten megabyte connections are strongly discouraged. Never use a Internet based network connection to your DDMS. You should only install Connect411 on a computer with a local hard-wired connection to your DDMS server.

Installation on Server Preferred

Installation of Connect411 on the DDMS Server is the most efficient and will provide the fastest contract updates.

Item411/Market Xpert Price Plans Are Required

You must have one or more Item411/Market Xpert price plans before you can update pricing on your DDMS contracts. Log in to Item411/Market Xpert and click the Help link on the main menu for complete price plan instructions.

Creating a Test Price Plan

These quick instructions on creating a price plan are for testing Connect411 only. Please refer to the complete price plan instructions on the Item411/Market Xpert site.

  1. Login to Item411/Market Xpert with your main account (must have access to price plans).
  2. Click the Price Plans link on the Top Menu.
  3. Click the Create a New Price Plan link.
  4. Make sure Sell Plan is selected.
  5. Enter Staples in the Plan ID box.
  6. Click the Next button.
  7. Enter Beat Staples in the Plan Name and Display Name boxes.
  8. Click the Next button.
  9. Click the Add a New Detail Record to this Price Plan link.
  10. Select Staples1 in the Source drop down list.
  11. Click the Next button.
  12. Enter Staples in the Detail Display box.
  13. Replace the 0.00 with -2 (minus sign and the number 2) in the +/- Percent box.
  14. Click the Next button.
  15. Logout of Item411/Market Xpert.
